Lenapehoking Lodge IX

The Order of the Arrow is Scouting’s National Honor Society. For more than 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.  This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well.  Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others.  OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America’s youth.

Membership Fees

Active membership expires on December 31st each year. Please pay your membership fees for the next year before that.

Lenaphoking Lodge helps Northern New Jersey Council provide a quality Scouting program through recognition of Scouting spirit and performance, development of youth leadership and service, promotion of Scout camping and outdoor programs, and enhancement of membership tenure.  Lenapehoking Lodge operates under a charter granted by the National Council, BSA, and must apply annually for its renewal.  The Boy Scouts of America will grant a charter to only one Lodge per Council. Lenapehoking IX Lodge is supported by three Chapters that include all Districts of Northern New Jersey Council.

Lenapehoking Lodge IX Unit OA Elections

Lenapehoking Lodge accepts election requests for eligible youth from Northern New Jersey Council Scouts BSA Troops, Venture Crews, and Sea Scout Ships using the form located here.

Adults (age 21 or older) who meet the camping requirements may be selected following nomination to and approval by the lodge adult selection committee. The form for adult nominations to Lenapehoking IX can be found here.

Each year, the Lodge seeks eligible candidates for our Order from amongst the units within our Council. Scouts from Council Scouts BSA Troops, Venture Crews, and Sea Scout Ships meeting the minimum requirements set forth by the Order of the Arrow National Board can stand for election by their peers within their units.

Unit elections to Lenapehoking IX will be permitted in Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scout units. The new Order of the Arrow membership requirements are as follows:

  • Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.
  • Have experienced 15 nights of camping while registered with a troop, crew, or ship within the two years immediately prior to the election. The 15 nights must include one, but no more than one, long-term camp consisting of at least five consecutive nights of overnight camping, approved and under the auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America. Only five nights of the long-term camp may be credited toward the 15-night camping requirement; the balance of the camping (10 nights) must be overnight, weekend, or other short-term camps of, at most, three nights each. Ship nights may be counted as camping for Sea Scouts.
  • At the time of their election, youth must be under the age of 21, hold the Scouts BSA First Class rank, the Venturing Discovery Award, or the Sea Scout Ordinary rank or higher, and following approval by the Scoutmaster, Crew Advisor or Sea Scout Skipper, be elected by the youth members of their unit.

To be valid elections must be led by a Lodge sanctioned election team from outside the unit. Elections are coordinated and scheduled by a youth member of your local chapter (district) and are held at a unit meeting only.
